Local industry called to stake claim in bypass - Toowoomba Chronicle

RANGECONNECT, one of three consortiums selected to tender for the Toowoomba second Range crossing, is to hold a major local industry briefing in Toowoomba.

RangeConnect is inviting local subcontractors and suppliers, which may be able to contribute to the project, to attend the briefing and register their interest in participating in the biggest infrastructure project undertaken in the Toowoomba Region.

Toowoomba Regional Mayor Paul Antonio is scheduled to address the briefing to endorse the project and to encourage local industry to get behind it, regardless of which consortium wins the tender.

The Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Toowoomba Surat Basin Enterprise will also participate in the event.

Up to 250 people are expected to attend the briefing to be held at the Empire Theatre Heritage Auditorium from 5.30pm on Monday, October 20.

RangeConnect spokesman Jason Spears said the event was a great opportunity for local industry to stake a claim on being involved in this great piece of nation-building infrastructure.

"We're looking for registrations from fencing contractors to cleaners, reinforcing suppliers to concrete suppliers and many other fields in between.

"We also particularly want to hear from indigenous enterprises as indigenous employment will be a major focus of the project," Mr Spears said.

The briefing will be a great networking opportunity for participants who will be invited to stay for refreshments after the event. Local industry representatives who wish to attend the event are asked to rsvp via http://ift.tt/1sxKWcj.
