Petrol pump rip-off leaves Toowoomba motorists fuming - The Queensland Times

Toowoomba's great petrol rip-off.Toowoomba's great petrol rip-off.

THE Chronicle's investigation on petrol prices in Toowoomba got people talking online and on social media yesterday.

Most said they were upset that international fuel price drops were not being passed on to motorists.

Our online poll found that 97% of residents felt they were getting "ripped off" at service station petrol bowsers around Toowoomba.

CHEAP FUEL REPUTATION ON EMPTY

Residents say petrol is too pricey

Rosie Towers: I was in Brisbane on Saturday and fuel was $1.23. I was in Toowoomba on Sunday and it was $1.35. Yes you should feel ripped off.

Annie O'Neil: Of course we are getting ripped off in Toowoomba no one is policing it. You can drive 50k down the Range and get it for $1.25 litre.

Trish Laing: Toowoomba has been higher for months now. My sister, who lives on the coast and drives to Brisbane daily, and I compare it all the time and we are always higher.

Cameron Zell: They are always quick to put the price up but never concerned about dropping it. Servos don't have any issue selling fuel here so I don't know why they are going on about "competitive pricing".

Amanda Hogan: I work at a Toowoomba servo. Our prices are dictated by the servos around us and are decided by our head office, we don't get a choice. It's been 145.9 for a while now.We do discount it but it still doesn't bring it close to the servos outside of the Darling Downs.

Cindi Michelle Iverson: And Oakey is dearer again. I went to Brissy last week and there is over 25c a litre difference.

Timothy Swinson: Filled up for $1.23 at Rustys on the highway to Brisbane last night (unleaded not ethanol). Asked the attendant how they were so much cheaper than everyone else and she said they all get it from the same place so they could be cheaper if they wanted to be.
