Severe thunderstorms in south-east Queensland have seen golf ball-sized hail fall at Laidley in the Lockyer Valley.
The weather bureau has issued a severe storm warning for damaging winds and large hailstones in the region, including the Ipswich, Southern Downs, Scenic Rim, Somerset and Toowoomba districts.
Other locations that will be affected include Emerald, Barcaldine, Roma, Dalby, Oakey, Warwick, Stanthorpe, Brisbane, Moreton Bay and islands and Caboolture.
Senior forecaster Brian Rollstone says two storms cells are moving north.
"[There's a] a bigger one near Boonah, to the west of Boonah there. A smaller cell is just west of Ipswich," he said.
"The first cell, the smaller cell, actually produced golf ball-sized hail and most likely the southern one, which is a bigger one, will definitely have hail in it.
"The heavier storm actually has wind gusts getting up to 120 kilometres per hour."
The Bureau of Meteorology has urged people to move their cars under cover and seek shelter indoors.
At the weekend, south-east Queensland was battered by two major storms.
Thousands of lightning strikes, flash flooding and winds gusting to 125 kilometres per hour hit the region.
