In Queensland, with 14 thousand government jobs slashed since the LNP came to power - tensions between the government and the public service are running high.
This week unions took the government to court in a constitutional challenge to new laws which remove job security for the state's 200 thousand public servants.
Voting has begun on the contentious core public service enterprise offer by the government which also removes job security provisions.
I spoke to a local ex-public servant about his redundacy - he confirms it was NOT voluntary.
Here's Peter Sparshott.
