Fire authorities in north-west Queensland believe arsonists are responsible for a spate of grass fires in the Mica Creek area, near Mount Isa.
The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) says a fire reignited earlier this morning in the area, but has been contained.
QFRS area commander Ross Mutzelberg says a series of fires earlier this week in the area is believed to have been deliberately lit.
"Complete stupidity I would say and a disregard for the people whose property is being threatened," he said.
"We have an extra crew that flew in from Brisbane last night, and they'll be here until Saturday morning.
"Some of the fires have just been too far apart to have been embers from one to the other.
"I do believe that while some of them may have been reignitions [sic], the original ones had to have been lit."
Severe to extreme fire conditions are predicted in three-quarters of the state today, from Charters Towers west to the Northern Territory and down to the New South Wales border.
In southern Queensland, authorities says they are expecting the worst conditions in a decade.
Strike teams have been sent to Toowoomba, Warwick, Dalby and Roma and six water bombers and two fire spotters have been deployed.
