LAST POST, DECEMBER 14 - The Australian (blog)

Where is the diversity of opinion with respect to global warming, Mark Scott ("All views welcome at the ABC, like it or not", 13/12)?

The ABC's coverage of this issue, along with its coverage of other pet left-wing issues, has been shamelessly one-sided.

Why does Mark Scott think viewers are fleeing Insiders? These are not people who turn on occasionally and don't like what they see. They are dedicated Sunday morning viewers who are fed up with political bias of Barrie Cassidy and the panel members. I hope Janet Albrechtsen joins the program next year.

Mark Scott's piece reveals the left-wing bias at the ABC comes from the top. The giveaway was Scott describing Barrie Cassidy's contributions as the embodiment of fairness, balance and impartiality. If the head of the ABC believes Insiders presents a balanced view of both sides of politics, it explains heaps about the ABC.

Thank you, Mark Scott. Bias is in the eye of the viewer. And wasn't Insiders John Howard's favourite program?

We've seen Peter Slipper's misogynist texts about women. We don't need a legal opinion to know he shot himself in the foot and exposed his true self. We also know Julia Gillard and Nicola Roxon supported him to the hilt for political gain, even after he had shown himself to be a misogynist.

Gary Porter, Toowoomba, Qld

Regarding Mal Brough and his role in the Slipper-Ashby affair, it's disappointing that after respecting the man for his integrity one comes to realise that he is, after all, just another politician.

John Oldfield, Pearce, ACT

It would seem from Jake Lynch's letter (11/12) the letter writing courses on offer at the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies focus on generating conflict rather than looking to the middle ground as a way of finding resolution and peace.

No matter how offensive I find the Labor Party and its leadership, I will still defend to the death its right to offend me.

Mark Fisher, Stepney, SA

The many readers who have been offended by Nicola Roxon's offensive draft bill which would make it an offence to offend should relay their concerns to the Senate legal affairs committee (legcon.sen@aph.gov.au) which is investigating the bill. The deadline is December 21.
