3:34pm: The Bureau of Meteorology has issued an updated warning for areas northwest of Brisbane. At 3.05pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Jimna, the area between Crows Nest and Cooyar, the area west of Toogoolawah and the ranges south of Jimna. "These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to southeast," the Bureau says. "They are forecast to affect the area west of Kingaroy, the area west of Conondale and the area southwest of Kingaroy by 3.35pm and Mount Barney, Aratula, Mount Kilcoy and Conondale by 4.05pm."




2:35pm Cameron Atfield: The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a warning for areas north-west of Brisbane.


At 2.30 pm, "severe thunderstorms" were detected on weather radar near Cooyar, the area between Crows Nest and Cooyar, the area north of Crows Nest and the area southwest of Kingaroy.


These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Jimna, the area west of Toogoolawah and the area northwest of Jimna by 3pm and Blackbutt by 3.30pm.


The bureau warned damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones were likely.


The next warning is due to be issued by 3.25 pm.

1:50pm Cameron Atfield: The Bureau of Meteorology has not issued a warning yet, but the Early Warning Network this morning issued the following statement to people in the Brisbane City Council area: "There is an increased chance of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening across the Southeast Coast district, particularly over the Brisbane Valley. Large hail, flash flooding and damaging winds are a possibility in storms today." Keep watching this space for the latest on this afternoon's storm threat.
