JULIA Gillard says she knew about Nicola Roxon's resignation plans 12 months ago. Are we expected to believe that after attaining the position of first law officer in December 2011, Roxon was talking about quitting six weeks later?

The only reason Labor MPs are resigning is because they can't bear the thought of being in opposition looking across at the Treasury benches to see Tony Abbott's smiling face.

Rick Highman, Toowoomba, Qld

When will Tony Abbott have visions for the future of Australia? You can't be PM without visions. Julia Gillard has them all the time. Never mind that they're mostly hallucinations.

The latest Newspoll confirms the obvious - voters will tolerate a Coalition led by Tony Abbott but don't want Labor with Julia Gillard leading.

I really thought Julia Gillard's new glasses would have done it for her. Maybe we all just saw through them.

Peter Steele, Brisbane, Qld

The Labor Party will be wiped off the map at the next election if Julia Gillard remains leader. Bring back Kevin Rudd, I say. The party is far more important to Australia than Gillard.

When can we expect independents Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor to announce they will not contest the September election?

Anthony Albanese says the announcement of an election date and the ministry reshuffle are part of an "orderly process". So was the evacuation of the Titanic.

I would like Japanese academic Yoshiro Tsutsui to know that I am a male and am happy if the temperature is 23.9 C or 43.9C ("Easy being happy when it's cool", 4/2). I am even happier if it is 33.9 C. But if it is 13.9 C, I am somewhere else.

I knew that the 9/11 threat wasn't over when my Italian red wine was taken while in transit at Singapore airport. I was only returning from touring Italy.

Executive producer of cricket at the Nine Network, Brad McNamara, should be very pleased with Australian cricketer, George Bailey. If it wasn't for Bailey, McNamara would probably be "working in a coal mine or flipping burgers" for a living.
