A man will serve at least one month behind bars for his part in an abduction that sparked a big manhunt in the Northern Territory last year.
The Darwin Magistrates Court had heard that Liam Booth, 25, allowed his cousin, Patrick Briston, and another man, Joshua Walsh, to evade police by hiding at his Darwin house after they abducted Monique Edmondson, 25, from a women's shelter in the city.
The prosecution says Ms Edmondson, who came to Darwin from Toowoomba in Queensland, was taken from the shelter at gunpoint and held against her will for several days.
The court heard large numbers of police took part in the search for Ms Edmondson, who they feared would be killed.
Booth was also charged with lying to police.
Magistrate Daynor Trigg said that, because Ms Edmondson was in such grave danger, Booth had an obligation to tell police everything he knew.
Instead he did nothing.
Mr Trigg said Booth was misguided by an alliance to his cousin and could have ended the ordeal much sooner.
Booth was convicted of being an accessory after the fact and providing a false statement to police.
He was sentenced to six months in prison but will be released after one month.
Joshua Walsh was found dead after police raided the house and rescued Ms Edmondson in August last year.
