A business lobby group says it will push southern Queensland's economic credentials when State Cabinet meets in Toowoomba on the weekend.

Ministers will hold their final Community Cabinet meeting for the year on Sunday, followed by more than 200 private meetings with local groups.

Shane Charles from Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise says he has arranged to meet nine ministers.

"We're trying to impress on the ministers what's happening in the region," he said.

"So a lot of it won't be a specific request to a lot of them but a number of them will be requests for assistance for plans to drive our region forward."

The Queensland Council of Unions says efforts to meet Energy Minister Mark McArdle to discuss the future of small Ergon Energy depots have been knocked back.

Toowoomba president Chris McGaw says he wants a guarantee the depots will remain open.

"The electricity goes off you'll be waiting for days for the electricity to be turned on as was in Quilpie in Christmas this year - it took the guys eight hours to get the power back on, so those people have got to come from Roma to restore power, people will be waiting days," he said.
