The Australian Navy's HMAS Toowoomba has arrived in WA to join the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

The Anzac class frigate arrived at her home port of Stirling Naval Base in Rockingham on Saturday morning after being recalled from other duties to join the search off WA's coast.

A navy media spokesman said the Toowoomba would be resupplied and planned to set sail for the search area this afternoon.

On Saturday morning, the lead Austraslian search plane, Rescue 104, dropped sonar buoys in an area 1600km off the WA coast where it spotted a small cluster of possible debris.

The buoys' batteries will run out on Sunday night, so a prompt follow-up is being planned.
