An elderly man missing since Monday morning has been winched to safety from bushland in Toowoomba.

The 83-year-old was found near Prince Henry Heights about 10.30am Tuesday, and was flown to hospital by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter.

“He was found fine and well with no visible injuries,” RACQ CareFlight Rescue aircrewman Richard Mitchell said.

Mr Mitchell said the man was in a stable condition.

State Emergency Service volunteers, police and the RACQ helicopter scoured bushland for about 24 hours, The Toowoomba Chronicle reported.

The man's wallet and glasses were found on Monday morning across the road from a mountain retreat on Prince Henry Drive, leading police to believe he was in the area.
