QUEENSLAND Premier Campbell Newman says the lack of "dignity and respect" for those who died in the MH17 plane crash in Ukraine was completely unacceptable.
He called on the Russian and Ukraine governments and rebels to do the right thing.
"Everybody involved who are warring over there need to let those who've suffered loss see that this is being done properly," he said of the repatriation operation.
Queensland Cabinet ministers observed a minute's silence for all Australians who lost their lives during their meeting at Daisy Hill on Monday.
Queenslanders will be able to leave tribute messages for friends and families of MH17 plane crash victims in condolence books throughout the state.
The books will be sent to all 89 state electorate offices and placed at Parliament House and the Executive Building in Brisbane.
"We ask that Queenslanders who feel strongly about this ... go there and sign those books as a tribute to those who've lost their lives and again showing solidarity to the friends and families who have lost loved ones," he said.
Mr Newman said Queensland police were assisting federal authorities with background work to help identify victims of the tragedy in the Ukraine.
