Call for outdoor mall in city's CBD - Toowoomba Chronicle

LETTER OF THE DAY: After visiting Loganholme's outside shopping mall, I am encouraged to write this letter.

The outside mall has been designed to meet the needs and interests of the people with a permanent large entertainment screen where shoppers can sit and relax and watch while taking time out to enjoy the many wonderful restaurants and cafes.

The mall also provides customers with live entertainment.

I cannot help wondering why Toowoomba does not plan an outside mall in our dying inner CBD to bring life back into the centre with people shopping, eating and relaxing or simply stopping to listen to our local artists entertaining.

Toowoomba does not provide a reason for the public to come into the CBD when there are shopping malls with lots of parking in the outer suburbs.

Thinking outside the box and utilising Toowoomba's cold winters could include a mall featuring an ice skating rink that come summer turns into a roller blade rink.

This would provide entertainment for families and especially entertainment for teenagers that is sadly missing in Toowoomba.

Maybe a mall that provides entertainment for all ages may just be the what is needed to help lower the crime rate in Toowoomba.
