City enjoys that spring feeling - Toowoomba Chronicle

THE sun was shining and so too were the faces of dozens of visitors at Queens Park.

With the iconic Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers less than a week away families were taking the opportunity to visit our numerous parks and gardens which are in full bloom.

One of those visitors was Toowoomba father Juan Reyes and his four-year-old daughter Alana.

"Toowoomba is very pretty and full of pretty parks and flowers," he said during his visit to Queens Park yesterday.

He and his family moved to the city from a small town in New South Wales and believes there is no better place to raise his children.

"It's full of nice parks for the kids," he said.

And it seems that Mr Reyes isn't the only one who thinks the gardens in the city are tops.

According to Gwenda Wolff of Toowoomba our gardens are "absolutely perfect".

"It's just perfect, it's such a nice day and the gardens are beautiful."

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Chris Joseph said the weather forecast was looking "pretty good" for the week, however some showers were predicted for early and later on in the week.

He said there could be one or two showers today for the far south-east Queensland area and Tuesday would be more active with a chance of showers or even a storm.

Mr Joseph said the weather will be fine and sunny until Friday; however there was a chance something might develop possibly by the weekend.

The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers runs from Friday, September 19 to Sunday, September 28.

Top events to attend include the Ergon Energy Flower, Food and Wine Festival, the Heritage Bank Live Concert Series, The Chronicle Garden Competition, the Grand Parade and Garden Tour and the Grand Central Floral Parade.
