A STRONG pitching rotation and a quality batting line-up has Toowoomba coach Chris Edards optimistic ahead of this week's Queensland Women's Softball Championship in Brisbane.

Tracy Edards will be backed up by pick-up players Melanie Pattison and Samantha Bliss in the pitching ranks and that should help Toowoomba's push to do well in their pool starting Friday.

"This year, having three pitchers, we should go alright," Chris Edards said.

"I'm hoping to finish in the top four from our pool and that will put us in the Queensland Cup.

"We've got the girls to do it. They just have to put it together."

The squad is made up of eight Toowoomba players as well as three pick-up players from Mackay and one from Brisbane.

The make-up of the squad and other factors have made it difficult for Toowoomba to prepare.

"We haven't had much of a training session because of the weather and people away. We'll just see how we go," Edards said.
