Wright stars on road at junior nationals in Toowoomba - Toowoomba Chronicle



MITCHELL Wright is a name to watch after he dominated at the Junior National Road Cycling Championships in Toowoomba.


Wright had an event to remember as he took out the under 15 boys time trial, road race and criterium at Glenvale.


Racing against the best junior riders from across Australia, the New South Welshman recorded a clean sweep of victories in the three events.


Queenslanders posted some good results over the three-day event which featured 189 riders.


Brooke Tucker managed to win the under 17 women's criterium as she managed to transfer her success from the track to the road.


Kristina Clonan secured bronze behind Tucker to go with the silver medal she won in the under 17 women's road race.


Claire Winterbourne won another gold medal for Queensland in the under 15 women's time trial, with Emily Hardcastle third.


Courtney Patterson also finished with two medals in the under 15s.


Toowoomba's Harvey Silk improved as the event went on as he finished 46th in the time trial, 29th in the road race and 22nd in the criterium on Sunday.


Elijah Davis had a mixed event finishing 17th in the time trial, 40th in the road race and he was unable to finish the criterium.
