TOOWOOMBA open house organiser Stephanie Keays will unlock the city's most fascinating buildings to the public this month.

The event, which showcases Toowoomba's finest architecture, was officially launched yesterday with a line-up of 30 buildings set to go on display.

It is the second year of the Toowoomba Open House Festival and Ms Keays said this year's event had even more for visitors.

"It is overwhelming the response we have received following the success of 2013's Open House Festival," Ms Keays said.

"This year we will have 30 properties which is a significant increase from the 17 of last year.

"It is a real testament to the broad appeal of the festival."

Toowoomba's Masonic Lodge will once again be a major feature of the Open House Festival with the Empire Theatre, Toowoomba Grammar and St Luke's Church among the buildings set to open their doors.

The festival will also see a return of the hugely popular photo competition as well as a wide range of tours and information sessions.

Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection Andrew Powell was on hand at the Cobb and Co Museum to launch the event.

"The Open House event unlocks Toowoomba's incredible heritage and culture," Mr Powell said.

"The more people who can experience these buildings the better because it means more people get a taste and a feel for the history of the place."
