TOOWOOMBA detectives are investigating the possible link between two inner-city break and enters on Thursday night.
The Milne Bay Aquatic Centre was broken into sometime between 9pm Thursday and 1am yesterday, alerting a private security firm which responded.
The unknown offenders smashed a window and searched the premises before fleeing the scene.
"A search of the premises appears to have occurred in the centre by the offender or offenders," Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said.
"Nothing was reported stolen, but the office area was searched (by the intruders)."
Because it was close to the aquatic centre, Det Snr Sgt McCusker said officers were also investigating a break and enter at the Toowoomba Senior Citizens Day Respite Centre.
A glass sliding door was forced open at the Herries St facility, triggering an alarm and prompting a response and search of the premises by a private security firm.
"Entry was gained through a glass sliding door being forced," Det Snr Sgt McCusker said.
"An alarm was triggered and the offender or offenders decamped.
"Nothing was reported stolen.
"Due to the close proximity of the two businesses, police believe there might be a common link."
Det Snr Sgt McCusker said it was likely that in both cases the intruders had been disturbed by the arrival of the security firms.
