TOOWOOMBA and Darling Downs sport fans will have the chance to get up close and personal with the ICC cricket World Cup trophy when it visits the city next month.

The trophy will be on display at Toowoomba's Godsall St Oval on Sunday, December 7, from 1pm-8pm.

Participants will have the opportunity to get their photo taken with the trophy, test their batting and bowling skills, and show their support for the 14 nations competing in the 2015 World Cup.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their favourite nation colours or traditional attire.

The trophy will also be on display in Warwick on December 7 between 9am-noon at Slade Park.

The cup tour is part of promotions for next year's 50-over World Cup tournament.

The cup returns to Australia and New Zealand next February and March after a 23-year absence from the region.

Three cup matches will be played at Brisbane's Gabba ground.
