ALL sorts of weird and wonderful antiques were on show as Toowoomba hosted its own version of Antiques Roadshow.

Raising money for the Mater Foundation Prostate Appeal, the event gave residents a chance to learn the history and value of their most treasured possessions.

Held at Stirling House in Rangeville, the day also featured markets and other attractions.

It was a huge day for Jeremy Green of Range Antiques who provided more than 300 free valuations as part of the event.

"It was a crazy day, however it was great to see so many of the different pieces owned in the region," he said.

"Many people don't know where to go to get their items valued so to give that opportunity was great.

"One piece which really stood out was a 16th century pantograph. I had never really seen anything quite like it before."

Toowoomba resident Bill Wallace's naval sextant was another piece which opened eyes.

"I inherited the sextant from a friend years ago and have always wondered what its history was," Mr Wallace said.

"Jeremy was able to give me more of an insight which helped answer my questions about it."
