Dwyer claims silver with Hockeyroos at Champions Trophy - Toowoomba Chronicle

BEC Dwyer has collected a silver medal at the Champions Trophy after the Hockeyroos lost to tournament host Argentina in a shoot-out in the final.

The Toowoomba talent made a cameo off the bench for Australia as the Hockeyroos were locked at 1-1 with Argentina at full-time on Monday morning (AEST).

Australia took the lead in the 35th minute with a goal from Kathryn Slattery before Florencia Habif equalised for the hosts four minutes later.

Neither team could conjure a winner so the decider went to a shoot-out.

Luciana Aymar scored first for Argentina in the shoot-out despite protests from the Hockeyroos the ball had not actually gone in the goal.

Georgia Nanscawen then missed the first shot for the Hockeyroos and they went on to lose the shoot-out 3-1 as Argentina claimed the gold medal.
