Local Government Act Changed: Mayor Given Much More Power
14 November 2012 , 4:16 PM by Belinda Sanders
Big new for local councils this morning with state parliament last night passing some major reforms to the Local Government Act.
The government says the amendments will change the way councils do business.
It will NOT however officially recognise Local Government in it's own right.
The Minister for Local Government explains here how it will affect you as a ratepayer.
Toowoomba Region's Mayor Paul Antonio is happy with the changes but still wants Local Government to be officially recognised in the constitution.
