TRAINER Norm Hilton believes the best is yet to come for lightly raced five-year-old Taimzuptina after the mare took out the Computer Troubleshooters Toowoomba West Class 2 Handicap at Clifford Park on Saturday night.
Taimzuptina ($1.90fav) led for most of the 1050-metre trip with apprentice Alannah Fancourt on board to beat Skytana ($8) by three lengths ahead of Embellish ($7).
That victory was first-up this campaign and was the bay mare's third career win from just six starts.
Hilton thinks the Taimazov-Telltina five-year-old is now ready to make the most her talent.
"That whole breed seems to take a bit of time and she's hitting her straps now," Hilton said.
"She did it pretty well. We were feeling confident heading in. She's got a bit of talent."
Hilton is keen to take her up in grade next start, which could be at Clifford Park while a tilt at a first metropolitan win for her could also loom.
"We'll probably just keep rolling her through the classes. We might give her another run in Toowoomba and maybe look for a race in Brisbane, perhaps mid-week," Hilton said.
It was a good start to the meeting for the girls, with Lacey Morrison and Melody O'Brien joining Fancourt as winners from the opening three races of the seven-race program.
Morrison piloted Prefect ($5.60) to a narrow win over Spent in the roughiesonly.com.au QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap (1050m).
O'Brien followed with a victory in the third when $2 favourite Rhiatenn Road scored a three-quarter length win over Town Dazzler in the XXXX Gold Filles and Mares Maiden Plate over 1200 metres.
Jockey Nozi Tomizawa finished the night with a winning double after steering Fine Tune ($6.50) to the line in the PSP Video Class 1 Handicap (1200m) before Spinada ($8.50) saluted in the Trackside Photography Benchmark 75 Handicap over 1625 metres.
