Two-speed construction industry in a house divided - The Australian

QUEENSLAND'S two-speed economy has been dramatically illustrated by figures from the state's peak housing body which show that construction is booming in mining-related areas but in the doldrums around tourism destinations.

Figures released by the Housing Industry Association yesterday show that housing approvals around Queensland for the three months to the end of September were 1 per cent lower than for the corresponding period in the previous year.
