The Day of Reckoning for Queensland Students - ABC Online (blog)

The Day of Reckoning for Queensland Students

18 January 2013 , 1:52 PM by David Iliffe

Cent heights This week, more than 38,000 Queensland students received the news they were sweating on: were their senior marks good enough to get them into the university course of their choice, or would they have to compromise, go to plan B or go back to the drawing board?

THis week on the show, I had a really insightful chat with Maryanne Walsh - principal of Toowoomba's Centenary Heights State High School.

A record 11 students from her school received an OP1 and 94.3% of the school's OP elegible students scored an OP of between 1 and 15.

She talked about how Centenary Heights schieved such academic success, why its important and why it isn't and the school's ongoing relationships with its students after they leave.
