Toowoomba's Security Cameras on National Stage

Big Brother is watching.. if your walking through the CBD of Toowoomba... but for good reason... the cameras have cut the crime rate in half and even proven the innocence of some suspects.

The City Safe Camera Project now has more than 60 cameras covering the CBD... and operators watching carefully for any sign of trouble.

It's been running in the Garden City for almost 20 years... and because of that... is now being used as a model for other city's across the country.

Operators here will fly out today to speak at a national security conference about it's impact on late night assaults here.

If you are wondering how the police can be there in less than a minute... it's becuase they have eyes literally in the sky watching for them.

Obviously the busiest times are at night on the weekends.. so I headed out at 1 o'clock in the morning to take a loook at Toowoomba's CBD City Safe Camera Headquaters.
