BACK ON THE BIKE: Toowoomba rider Jared Graves. Nev Madsen
JARED Graves has enjoyed his time as a hermit after winning the Enduro World Series but is keen to ramp up preparations for a big 2015.
Graves took out the Enduro World Series in October and has been enjoying time at home since then.
The Toowoomba rider relaxed following his victory, but has returned to training in a bid to prepare for a fast start to next year.
"Training has just started up again," he said.
"I pretty much lived like a hermit the last six weeks. I did a few little things for sponsors and that, but, apart from that, I've just been pressing the reset button, recharging the batteries and that and just getting ready to build up for another season next year.
"I have really enjoyed the last six or seven weeks, but I am definitely ready to get stuck into training again.
"I was starting to feel a bit fat and lazy there for a little while."
Graves was looking forward to starting his season closer to home, including at the Oceania Mountain Bike Championships in Toowoomba from March 26-29.
"We have got some domestic stuff in the new year," Graves said.
"The first of February I think I'll be doing a race at Mt Buller. We have got a couple of bigger races like the Oceania champs here as well and then the end of March is the first world series race and that is in New Zealand.
"I have a bit of a closer-to-home start for next season so that will be good, not having to start the season with a trip over to Europe or somewhere like that."
Graves will have an advantage over his rivals at the Oceania Championships given his intricate knowledge of the Jubilee Park trails over the years.
"I know it already. The amount of years and the amount of runs I've put in on all of the trails around here, I'm looking forward to that race," he said.
