TOOWOOMBA Turf Club members last night voted overwhelmingly to ditch the cushion track and return to grass racing.
The Newman Government has indicated money will be made available for the cushion to be replaced within the Industry Infrastructure Plan if members indicated they wanted grass.
"The members have spoken and this represents our chance to make things right at Toowoomba again," TTC chairman Bob Frappell said.
Frappell said the vote was 200 for, with one vote against.
Racing Minister Steve Dickson said the Government was committed to listening to industry members and the message from Toowoomba last night was very clear.
"We can now get on with the job of rebuilding the turf track and I'm looking forward to seeing industry members and punters alike return to the club as provincial racing in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs is rejuvenated," Dickson said.
