A MAN has been charged with grievous bodily harm after badly breaking the jaw of another man at a work Christmas party in Toowoomba.
Toowoomba Police Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Paul McCusker said the 37-year-old man was charged on Thursday.
It will be alleged he assaulted a 31-year-old man at the Royal Hotel in Ruthven St on December 18.
The victim sustained a fracture to his upper right jaw and required surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
Detective Senior Sergeant McCusker said the offender was given bail and will appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on January 29.
CIB officers also charged a 20-year-old man on Thursday for an unrelated break-in of the BP service station at Cambooya.
Det Snr Sgt McCusker said the offender attempted to break into an ATM machine at the service station but failed.
A can of degreaser was stolen.
Det Snr Sgt McCusker said a vehicle stolen from Harristown was used in the break-in on November 26 and later torched.
The man was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, arson, break and enter, stealing, wilful damage, possessing dangerous drugs and obstructing police.
