TRAINER Kevin Kemp will be out to add to his Clifford Park premiership win today on what is an historic day for Toowoomba racing.
Kemp leads the Clifford Park trainers' premiership and can't be headed going into the final meeting of the season.
He will also saddle up some strong chances today and has the opportunity to extend his lead over second-placed Michael Nolan, who is without a runner.
Today's meeting will also serve as the final program for Cushion Track racing before grass is returned to the course proper.
It will be a big day, especially for Kemp as he will claim his first Toowoomba trainer's premiership.
He rates it as a special achievement, especially given the esteem in which he holds 10-time premiership-winning trainer Nolan.
"I might have got third or fourth one year. To finish in front of Michael Nolan is good," Kemp said while on his way back to Toowoomba from the Sunshine Coast where My Boy Lucky posted another win for the trainer. "To run second to him would have been good.
"It's something that I'll always be proud of."
Kemp has six runners entered today and all could feature in their respective races.
He has three chances in the Neil Mansell Transport Benchmark 80 Handicap (1625m), with Tisani Boy, Jack's Back and Musashi of Mieko flying the stable flag.
Tough Taimz will also push for a third-straight Clifford Park victory.
"It's always hard to put three together but he's done everything right," Kemp said.
Race one is scheduled to jump at 12.30pm.
