The Toowoomba-trained boxer will have his first fight in the Garden City on June 7 when he takes on a yet-to-be-named opponent at Rumours International.
This bout will help keep Sherrington in shape for a possible fight against highly-fancied Gary O'Sullivan from Ireland.
Sherrington and his trainer-manager Brendon Smith announced the date yesterday after last week outlining their plans to The Chronicle.
"I'm really proud to announce this. I believe this is the biggest name we've had here in over a decade," Smith said of having the world champion fighting in Toowoomba.
Sherrington was keen to put on a good show for the city which has supported him since joining Smith.
"We wanted to have a fight here in Toowoomba. Toowoomba's been great to me since I've been out here," he said.
