AS AN international mountain bike rider, Jared Graves is hard to beat at the best of times.

But he will be even tougher to overcome this weekend as he headlines entries for the State Gravity Enduro Championships at Withcott's Jubilee Park.

Gravity enduro is becoming an increasingly popular MTB format. It caters for all styles of racers including downhill, cross country and trail riders, with the state's best to test themselves out at the foot of the Range on Sunday.

Graves will be tough to beat after finishing second overall in the Enduro World Series in Europe and is keen to ride close to home.

"It's always awesome to race at home," he said.

"I train all the time on these trails and Toowoomba is now getting a bit of a reputation as a mountain bike hotspot in this part of the country.

Toowoomba Mountain Bike Club president Ryan Myler is keen to bring Queensland's best riders to the area.

"Toowoomba Mountain Bike Club is thrilled to bring a state level championship event to Toowoomba," he said.

"With the support of Toowoomba Regional Council, not only have we been able to secure this event but also been able to add new tracks to our existing trail network in time for the big race."

Racing starts at 10am Sunday.
