WHEN Indian restaurants started popping up all across Toowoomba, Bindi Spot owner Irfan Tokmak decided it was high time to head back to his own traditional cuisine.
It was a move he hasn't looked back from, leaving him the proud owner, along with wife Moyalia, of one of Toowoomba's most popular restaurants, Sofra Turkish Cuisine.
They threw open the doors for the first time in 2011 and barely a night has gone by without an almost-full house since then.
But part of maintaining its popularity is keeping things fresh, so the duo recently spent some time in Melbourne sourcing lovely new crockery and decorations as well as hunting for new and interesting recipes to add to the menu.
The new-look menu will be launched at a special event on Tuesday night featuring Mzaza.
Influenced by her Spanish Sephardic roots, French-born Mzaza frontwoman Pauline Maudy sings in French, Spanish, Ladino and Turkish.
Together with her talented instrumentalists, she creates a unique blend of influences from the Mediterranean, the Balkans and the Middle East.
Mrs Tokmak said they produce sounds like no other, and they were very excited to have them for the launch of the new menu.
Mr Tokmak said the new-look menu would include all the most popular dishes on the existing menu in addition to more gluten-free options and some Turkish favourites such as dondurma (stretchy ice cream), turkish delight sundaes, a delicious hot drink called Salep and fried pastries known as cig borek.
