DRUG "cook" Shane Selwyn Francis Cumner had a long history of illicit drug use for which he had been jailed before, Toowoomba District Court heard.
When police turned up at the 52-year-old's home on acreage outside Tara on April 25 last year, he jumped on a motorcycle and rode off.
However, as police chased, Cumner lost control of his motorcycle, crashed and was arrested.
A search of a caravan hidden behind a mound of dirt on the property found a clandestine drug laboratory, complete with generator, Crown prosecutor Noel Needham told the court.
In a vehicle on the property, police found more drug-related equipment and 1.76g of pure methylamphetamine, he said.
Forensic inspection of the equipment showed it had been used to make methylamphetamine, the court heard.
Cumner pleaded guilty to producing a dangerous drug and five drug-related offences.
Judge Sarah Bradley said she would sentence Cumner on the grounds there was a potential for the drug to be supplied to others, but that it was not a commercial operation.
"It's a serious drug and the production of it is a very serious offence," she said.
Taking into account Cumner's criminal history, Judge Bradley sentenced him to three years' jail, but ordered he be released on parole on August 14 next year after having served one-third of the term.
