JUDGES have named the best of hundreds of incredible images entered in the 2014 Toowoomba Open House Photo Competition.

The winners were named at an awards ceremony at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery.

Paul Knie's snapshot of the Royal Bull's Head Inn was the unanimous judges' favourite, taking home the top prize.

Competition judge Rosie O'Sullivan said she knew Mr Knie's photo was the winning shot from the moment she first saw it.

"It is an incredibly well constructed photo and really draws you in," she said.

"It has a special quality which myself and my judging colleague Tony Coonan both noticed straight away."

Second place was claimed by Peter Wetzig with his image of the Soldiers Memorial Hall while Lyn Wetzig's photo of Toowoomba City Hall collected third place.

Eleanor Knie earned a judges' highly commended for her photo of the Toowoomba Railway Station.

Ms O'Sullivan said this year's competition exceeded all expectations.

"We were inundated with incredible images which made the judging process extremely difficult," she said.

"It was fascinating to go through all the photos with photographers attempting to convey the essence of Toowoomba Open House in their images.

"This event keeps getting better and I'm sure 2015 is going to be another big year for Toowoomba Open House."
