TOOWOOMBA mare Tinto stepped up her summer carnival campaign with an eye-catching barrier trial performance at Clifford Park today.

Tinto pleased trainer Rex Lipp with a late-closing third behind Tornadoes and Trail Boss over 925 metres on the inner grass.

After sitting in last spot until the home turn the 2014 Queensland Oaks winner finished generously for Kenji Yoshida to be beaten 1¾ lengths in the day's fastest heat time of 54.90 seconds.

"I've very pleased with that," Lipp said.

"We were not asking her to do too much today.

"She has a bit of trouble handling the tight turns on the inside track here.

"We just wanted to keep her on the best part of the going and it turned out a good trial."

Tinto hasn't raced since finishing unplaced in the Tatt's Cup over 2200m at Eagle Farm on June 21.

That followed her powerful win over talented Sydney filly Arabian Gold in the Group One Oaks (2400m) three weeks earlier.

Lipp has earmarked the Listed Fillies and Mares Classic (1200m) at Doomben on November 29 as a possible starting point for Tinto's new campaign.

"We're looking at that race on Tatt's day with her, but she'll only have a short preparation," Lipp said.

"Her main aim is Magic Millions day where we'll target either the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) or Stayers Cup (1800m) with her.

"The plan then is to spell her ahead of the Sydney autumn and Brisbane Winter Carnival where the Doomben Cup would be a nice race for her.

"But we just hope she pulls up well from today and we'll go from there."

* LEADING Toowoomba jockey Nozi Tomizawa landed the first winner of his latest overseas riding stint in South Korea on Sunday.

Tomizawa left Toowoomba in August to take up a four-month riding offer in Busan.

But his start was delayed by visa complications.

He broke through on Fine Dreams (3.0) for trainer Baik Kwang Yeol.
