THE Toowoomba print site, which prints The Chronicle and other products, will close next year.
Group services director, APN Australian Regional Media, David Power said: "APN Print will transfer the work to our plants at Yandina and Warwick. A Manugraph press, currently located in Ballina NSW, will be relocated to Warwick to facilitate printing coldset work.
"This has been a very difficult decision for ARM to make but is necessary due to the commercial realities that the print industry faces today.
"I want to make it perfectly clear that these changes are no reflection on the quality of the work produced out of the Toowoomba site by our staff. ''
The closure will take several months to finalise and both Warwick and Toowoomba will run simultaneously until training and quality are assured.
It is expected that the Toowoomba print site will remain open until at least the end of June, 2015.
"There will be also be redundancies and redeployments associated with the closure,'' Mr Power said.
He stressed that the quality and delivery times for the Region's leading daily newspaper The Chronicle would not be affected.
The Toowoomba Chronicle Saturday real estate guide is already produced each week at APN's Warwick print facility.
"There will be no adverse effects on news or advertising produced by The Chronicle team. It will operate as it does at present and the printing will remain in the region," Mr Power said.
