What gun restrictions are in place in Australia? A Toowoomba firearm shop owner explains the rules.

US President Barrack Obama recently announced gun-control proposals.
The political motivation was spurred by a school shooting in Connecticut that killed 20 first graders and six teachers last month. The President wants to ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines.
Here in Australia, gun controls have always been in place.. but the restrictions on licences tightened after the Port Arthur shootings in 1996. 35 people were killed including children and 23 were hurt.
Of course there are sporting shooters and farmers who use the weapons as tools... they have nothing in common with criminals who might get hold of a gun.
The debate encouraged me to find out more about gun licencing here in Australia, and so I approached one of the businesses that sells firearms in Toowoomba.
I met Guy Bedington, the owner of Shoesmith Firearms, and a former champion sporting shooter.
