A LOVESTRUCK man in Mt Tamborine has stunned the woman of his dreams after choosing yesterday's lightning strikes to propose to her.

The mystery couple were captured in a video posted to Facebook by Brisbane "stormchaser" Stephen Stoker.

He uploaded the minute-long footage to the Facebook page of popular Gold Coast severe weather site - Higgins Storm Chasing.

"Mount Tamborine," he said, "storm rolls in and stranger things happen".

As the mystery woman stops to take a picture of a lightning strike, the lovestruck man goes down on his right knee and extends his right hand out to her with the ring.

The stunned woman takes a step back before rushing forward to embrace him.

The lovestruck pair was then oblivious to the weather as further lightning strikes lit up the Queensland skyline.

Yesterday's storm generated a hive of activity online as Queenslanders took to social media to share updates, including Bianca - the nine-year-old daughter of

Higgins Storm Chasing founder Jeff Higgins.

"My 9yo daughters first ever lightning photo received the most likes, now over 10,000 with 2,500 comments.... She is overwhelmed!" Mr Higgins said.

He told followers the site reached three million people in the past 24 hours.

"Over 500 photos have been shared to HSC in 24hrs from our followers," he said, with the site also adding 3000 new followers.

The most popular photograph was that of a supercell at Highfields near Toowoomba taken by Heth Golding, which Mr Higgins said reached 246,000. It had 103 shares and 1,173 likes this morning.

More severe weather was expected to hit today east of the ranges.
