QUEENSLAND police say they have identified two men who tried to abduct a woman and stalked three others in Brisbane's south.
Detective Inspector Geoff Acreman says a registered nurse was grabbed and threatened with a "sharp implement" while she was walking to work at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Annerley on Saturday night.
The man who grabbed her ordered her to get into a car while the other man stood beside it, Insp Acreman said.
But she was able to escape when another car drove down the street.
A security guard then spotted two men in a car a short time later who were following three women who had just got off a train at nearby Banoon station.
The guard shone his torch through the window and the men sped off, but not before he took the car registration and forwarded it on to police.
He gave police the same description as the first victim.
Detectives tracked the car back to Toowoomba, about an hour west of Brisbane, where they believe the men are from.
Insp Acreman says the women were lucky to have been spared whatever the men had in store for them.
"To actually attack a women and hold a weapon to her and tell her to get into a car, you're not inviting her out for a cup of coffee," he told reporters.
"So it's obviously an extremely concerning act and their motivation is something that we take extremely seriously."
He said women should be vigilant when travelling alone, particularly at night.
Queensland Nurses Union secretary Beth Mohle says the first incident calls into question security arrangements at the hospital and she would be seeking urgent meetings with management to discuss the issue.
