JUST months ago, Jake Lasker had been given the "all-clear" from doctors after a battle with eye cancer.

Family friends said the "polite" teen and his parents had been relieved at the news and were eager to "just get on with it".

But his life ended in tragedy yesterday when he was found murdered at his family home in Rockville, a suburb of Toowoomba, about 3pm.

Police last night charged a 19-year-old Glenvale man with murder after allegedly stabbing Jake, also 19, in the neck and torso.

The accused is expected to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.

Police yesterday cordoned off sections of Hogg St while forensic units combed the property that Jake shared with his parents and brother.

The violent death has shocked the residents of the usually quiet residential street in Rockville.

A family friend last night said the slain teen's parents "weren't coping very well".

"His parents had already thought they might lose him from cancer. Now to lose him from this is terrible," they said.

It is understood the teen went to Toowoomba High School and, in 2010, attended Toowoomba TAFE.

On his Facebook page, Jake wrote: "I have asperges (sic) which affects my emotions, so please go easy on me."

He added: "I will always care for me family and friends. I love singing my fav songs."

The family friend said Jake was loved by his parents and was always polite, "considering what he was going through".
