Realising he was in trouble for driving while disqualified, Jesse Leigh Suhr gave his name as "Michael Barry Webster" when pulled over by police in Toowoomba on February 23.
Unfortunately, Webster's driver's licence was also suspended at the time leading police to take the driver into the police station.
It was during traffic record checks that police realised their man wasn't Webster at all, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.
Suhr, 26, then came clean and gave his correct name, telling police he gave the false name because he knew he was in trouble for driving while disqualified.
Acting Magistrate Roger Stark fined Suhr $1400 and disqualified him from holding or obtaining a driver's licence for two years.
