INSIGHT into the lives of the Toowoomba residents who did not return from the Second World War has been painstakingly compiled into a grand reference book.
Historian Eddie Habben yesterday proudly launched Roll of Honour, a book he said was designed to bring life to the names on Toowoomba's Mothers' Memorial.
"On that memorial are 250 names of men and women - a surname and a couple of initials," Mr Habben said.
"To me, I was trying to add a more personal touch to those names - who they were, families, what they did here in Toowoomba ... that type of thing."
Eddie Habben is proud of his book on Second World War veterans. Nev Madsen
Mr Habben now lives in Ipswich but was born in Toowoomba. It was part of his motivation to research the city's fallen.
"It's (been) 18 months really of research (and) writing to compile it all."
Only a limited number of copies were produced.
Anyone interested in reading the book can purchase an electronic copy for $5 from the Toowoomba RSL sub-branch.
